The energy price cap for households on a standard variable tariff from 1 January to 31 March 2024 is £0.29 per kWh; at this price, a 100 kWh EV would cost £29 to charge from 0-100%.

Charging costs vary and this depends on a few things like your energy tariff and the type of charger you have.

You can have a home charge point installed for around £1,000 but can reduce that by up to £350 with the Zero Emission Vehicles grant. Or, ask about financing the installation cost. 

When you are on the go and pop to the shop you can sometimes top up for free, however the costs of public charge points does vary depending on the charge point and location.

Another cost variable is the power rating and whether it is a fast charger or not. Lamppost charging tends to be slow, whereas car parks are faster.  

If you were to charge at an ultra rapid charging point, usually found at motorway service stations, you can expect to pay 80p per kWh, as of April 2024. 

This does tend to be a little more costly than the other options, but has greater convenience.
