The Nissan Formula E Team just released a great new campaign called ‘Department of Futures,’ inspired by a global survey showing that kids are really excited about electric cars. Conducted with OnePoll, the study surveyed 6,000 kids aged 8-16 from Brazil, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the UK, and the US.

What the Survey Revealed

Over half of the children want to drive electric cars to help save the planet, and 68% think fighting climate change is super important. The latest video, now live on Nissan global social media channels, shows 7-10-year-olds quizzing the Nissan team drivers, Oliver Rowland, Sacha Fenestraz and team principal Tommaso Volpe about the future of electric vehicles.

Keeping Our Promises

This campaign aligns perfectly with Nissan’s 2030 goals, including rolling out 27 new electrified vehicles by the end of the decade. It shows the commitment to making sure kids get the electric future they’re dreaming of. But it’s not just about the cars – almost half of the kids were unsure about what 'eco-friendly' means, and only 30% felt they were kind to the environment. This highlights the importance of educating the next generation about green tech, something Nissan is very passionate about.

Words from The Team Principal

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, said: “We understand the importance of giving the next generation the tools to fight climate change with electric mobility. The survey shows young people’s eagerness to help the environment through their vehicle choices, so we at Nissan Formula E Team are dedicated to advancing the necessary technologies. The 'Department of Futures' kids know their stuff about electrification, and it’s our mission to help them enjoy a greener, better future.”

About Nissan in Formula E

Nissan jumped into all-electric racing in Season 5 (2018/19) of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, becoming the first Japanese manufacturer in the series. They’re committed to the Gen3 era through Season 12 (2025/26) and even supplying EV powertrain tech to McLaren Racing. Drivers, Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz, are ready to take on Season 10, and gearing up for the Gen4 era starting in 2030, reinforcing the Ambition 2030 electrification goals.

Nissan races in Formula E to show the world how exciting zero-emission vehicles can be. Nissan is on a mission to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, with plans to electrify every new vehicle offering by the early 2030s in key markets. Unmatched expertise from the racetrack translates into better electric vehicles for you.
