Renault UK Partners with Octopus Energy to Offer Customers a Year’s Free Charging and Cost-Saving Tariffs

This unique partnership offers a full year of free driving*, as well as access to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, which can save customers hundreds of pounds annually compared to a standard variable tariff**.
How It Works
Retail customers who order a Scenic E-Tech 100% electric or Megane E-Tech 100% electric by 16 December 2024 and sign up for the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff will receive a substantial one-off credit on their energy account. This credit, equivalent to the cost of charging at the off-peak rate for 10,000 miles of driving, is calculated based on the vehicle's typical efficiency and WLTP figures**.
The collaboration includes the Mobilize Smart Charge app, designed to help Renault EV owners optimise the cost of home charging while reducing their carbon footprint. By factoring in grid capacity, the availability of renewable energy, electricity prices, and user preferences (like charge level and departure time), Mobilize Smart Charge ensures intelligent scheduling. This efficient approach not only supports the environment but also makes a real difference to energy bills.
A Cost-Effective and Eco-Friendly Tariff
The Intelligent Octopus tariff uses 100% renewable electricity***, providing an extremely low rate of just 7 pence per kWh when smart charging your EV, day or night. It guarantees six hours of off-peak electricity every night, from 11.30 pm to 5.30 am, not only for your EV but for your home too. This means charging a Renault Megane E-Tech 100% electric could lead to a 70% reduction in annual energy costs* compared to a standard variable tariff.
A Smooth and Green Charging Experience
Octopus Energy, the UK’s largest electricity supplier, delivers a seamless charging experience and supplies over seven million homes and more than 60,000 businesses with 100% green electricity from renewable sources such as wind and solar. Their smart tariffs are powered by Kraken, Octopus' advanced tech platform, which manages 38 gigawatts in assets to optimise the charging of EVs and balance the grid effectively, while also lowering energy costs for users.

* Both the Standard Variable Tariff and Intelligent Octopus Go (IOG) calculation assume a 2,300kWh/year charging estimated annual consumption (EAC). This is based on the assumption that the driver will cover 10,000 miles/year using a Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric long range (87kWh usable battery capacity and real-life range of 379 miles).
Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric comfort range (60kWh usable battery capacity and real-life range of 260 miles). The IOG calculation assumes all charging is done via smart-charging (i.e. charged at the off-peak rate). The running cost quotes do not include the standing daily charges, and are VAT inclusive.
