Nissan Formula E Team secured an impressive win in Round 2 of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, with Oliver Rowland delivering a dramatic late charge to claim the team's first GEN3 Evo triumph.
The British driver showed strong form early on, reaching the semi-finals in qualifying duels and lining up fourth on the grid. Meanwhile, his teammate Norman Nato endured a tough session, starting from P18.
Rowland wasted no time, breaking into the top three by Turn 1 on Lap 2, before pulling off a spectacular last-corner overtake to move into second as the race neared the halfway mark. Opting to delay using Attack Mode, he found himself in fourth after a late Safety Car period but took full advantage of his remaining power boost. In an incredible display of racecraft, he surged from fourth to first in under a minute, sealing a sensational victory.
On the other side of the garage, Nato put in a solid recovery drive, climbing five places to finish P13 in a highly competitive field.
This result pushes Nissan to second in the Manufacturers’ Standings, while Rowland also moves up to second in the Drivers' Championship. The championship now heads to Jeddah for a double-header on February 13-15, marking the series' first-ever visit to the Saudi Arabian city.

"Winning in Mexico feels amazing, especially at a track I’ve always wanted to conquer in front of these incredible fans. The team executed a great strategy, though we were initially unlucky with the Safety Car timing as I had just activated Attack Mode. But once racing resumed, I had a minute of extra power left and knew I had to make bold moves. It’s an unbelievable feeling to secure this win, especially after a small mistake in the duels. My thoughts are with my Performance Engineer, Asier Sebastián, who was taken to hospital this morning with appendicitis—I wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back at the track soon."

"We had strong potential this weekend but unfortunately, qualifying didn’t go our way. An early pit stop put us out of sequence, and we struggled to generate the tire temperature needed to progress to the duels. That ultimately compromised our race, as overtaking in Mexico is particularly tough. I felt comfortable in the car, but starting so far back made things difficult. The positives are that we’re now second in the Manufacturers’ Standings, and Oli’s win shows we’re heading in the right direction."
