Dacia is preparing to shake up the family car market once again and this time it is doing it with something a little different. Meet the Dacia Striker, a brand-new crossover that combines the practicality of an estate, the confidence of an SUV and the efficiency of a saloon.
Revealed in July 2026, the Striker will sit alongside the Bigster in Dacia's growing C-segment range. Rather than simply building another large SUV, Dacia has tried to create a car that takes the best bits from several different types of vehicle and puts them into one affordable package.
Built for British roads and everything beyond them
One of the most appealing things about the Striker is that it looks genuinely useful.
At 4.62 metres long, there should be plenty of space for passengers, shopping, luggage and everything that comes with family life. Yet at just 1.53 metres tall, it sits lower than many conventional C-segment SUVs. That lower profile should help its aerodynamics while giving the Striker a sleeker appearance than a traditional boxy SUV.
Then there is the ground clearance.
The front-wheel-drive Striker offers 190mm of ground clearance, rising to 200mm on the 4x4. That could make a real difference on British roads where potholes, rough country lanes, muddy tracks and steep driveways can quickly expose the limitations of a low car. Add the raised driving position and available four-wheel drive and the Striker starts to look like a car designed for real life rather than just the showroom.
For drivers who regularly head into the countryside, the Extreme version takes things even further with tough Starkle exterior protection, washable upholstery, rubber floor mats and downhill speed control. It is the sort of specification that encourages you to actually use the car without worrying about getting it dirty.
