Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its first high-performance electric vehicle, the IONIQ 5 N, during the Gran Turismo (GT) World Series 2024 World Finals Esports tournament in Amsterdam, Netherlands, held on December 7–8.

The IONIQ 5 N took part in the Qualifying Time Trial session of the Nations Cup World Final, offering fans a glimpse of its capabilities before its official debut in Gran Turismo 7 as part of the January 2025 update. The GT World Series, now in its seventh year, serves as the global championship for the renowned racing simulation franchise.

Pioneering Electrification with the IONIQ 5 N

As Hyundai N brand’s inaugural high-performance EV, the IONIQ 5 N embodies the company’s ‘Hyundai Way’ electrification strategy, emphasizing flexible and innovative electrification solutions.

The car leverages Hyundai's advanced EV technology to deliver exceptional driving performance. Equipped with a cutting-edge four-wheel-drive system, the IONIQ 5 N achieves:

  • Maximum output: 478 kW (650 horsepower) in N Grin Boost mode
  • Maximum torque: 770 Nm in N Grin Boost mode
  • Battery: 84 kWh high-output battery paired with a sophisticated EV-specific thermal management system, ensuring consistent performance under demanding conditions.

Exciting In-Game Rewards for Fans

To celebrate its debut, the IONIQ 5 N was offered as a special reward through the Gran Turismo 7 Viewers Gift campaign, held during the World Finals. Players who tuned into the Nations Cup via the campaign banner in the World Map of Gran Turismo secured their in-game IONIQ 5 N, with the reward set for distribution after the game’s January update.

Strengthening Collaboration with Gran Turismo

Hyundai and Gran Turismo first announced their partnership at the Nürburgring 24 race in May, unveiling the IONIQ 5 N TA Spec, which later set a modified production electric SUV record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in July.

“We are thrilled to feature the Hyundai N brand and the IONIQ 5 N in the Gran Turismo World Series,” said Joon Park, Vice President of the N Brand Management Group. “The IONIQ 5 N marks the beginning of a collaboration that will bring various Hyundai N models to Gran Turismo 7, allowing more people to experience the high performance of Hyundai N in the virtual world.”
