In 2026, Dr Sarah Ruggins will attempt exactly that - a world record-breaking ride from the southernmost tip of Spain to the Arctic Circle. Covering more than 6,000 kilometres across Europe, she’ll face searing heat, freezing temperatures, and relentless elevation. It’s a challenge that pushes far beyond physical limits.

But what makes Sarah’s story truly remarkable isn’t just where she’s going - it’s where she’s come from.

From Recovery to Record Breaker

After a serious illness that left her rebuilding from the ground up - even learning to walk again - cycling became something far more than a sport.

What began as recovery quickly evolved into something extraordinary. With determination and resilience, Sarah pushed herself into the world of endurance cycling, going on to set a world record for one of the UK’s most iconic long-distance routes.

It’s this mindset that defines her: not just the ability to endure, but the refusal to stop.

One Way North

Her next challenge - One Way North 2026 -takes things even further.

Starting in Tarifa, Spain, Sarah will ride north across Europe, finishing at the Arctic Circle. Along the way, she’ll climb more than 50,000 metres and ride for up to 22 hours a day, managing on minimal sleep.

It’s not just a physical test - it’s a mental one. A question of how far someone can go when they commit fully to the journey ahead.

The Right Support for the Journey

Behind every challenge of this scale is the right support.

For Sarah, that includes Dacia. Built for real-world adventure, Dacia vehicles are designed to handle the kind of conditions that define journeys like this - long distances, changing climates, and the unexpected along the way.

It’s a natural fit. Because when the road ahead is unpredictable, capability and reliability matter more than ever.

More Than a Record

This journey is about more than breaking records.

Through One Way North, Sarah is also raising funds for World Bicycle Relief - helping provide bikes to communities where access to transport can transform lives, improving access to education, healthcare, and opportunity.

It’s a reminder that the greatest journeys aren’t just measured in distance, but in impact.
