100 Years of MG with Ancaster
To celebrate 100 Years of MG, MG’s Car Club arranged the MG 100 John O’Groats to Land’s End ‘Cavalcade’! Along with raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society & Lupus UK, they planned a series of road runs from John O’Groats to Land’s End with all 12 centres of the car club working together to make it happen. There were handover points all over the country which included facilitating the passing of a gloss-sprayed card of Cecil Kimber, the founder of MG.
On Friday 17th May, Ancaster Dartford were there to greet “Cecil” and the rest of the MG Car Club as they made their way from John O Groats to Lands End to celebrate 100 Years of MG. Having made their way from Saffron Walden, a few club members made the journey over the bridge where we welcomed them into our busy show room. Cecil had a look at all the new models and even had his photo taken in front of a brand new MG3!
We provided all the members with coffee and cold drinks whilst they told us about the route so far and what parts they had joined for and showed off all their cars from over the decades. They then said their goodbyes and off went Cecil to the MGSE 100 event at the Fairmile pub the following day where he’d be finishing his weekend at the Brooklands MGSE100 event.
We were extremely happy to be part of such an exciting event and even happier to be celebrating 100 Years of MG. Seeing models both old and new and seeing how far the brand has come in 100 years is incredible to see.
