Ancaster Group were involved in an exciting project working with Croydon College to help their students learn more about electric vehicles.
Croydon College offers a range of courses, including Motor Vehicle. This course is designed for those who have a passion for cars as well as an interest in the maintenance of vehicles. It provides students with the practical experience and the technical knowledge needed to work in the automotive industry.
The course teaches them how to carry out maintenance and repairs on cars, vans, and other light vehicles. They gain hand on experience in a fully equipped workshop to show them exactly what a career as a technician would be like. The students get the opportunity to work on modern vehicles and diagnose faults on bespoke engine running rigs.
The course is expanding their knowledge to the electric vehicle (EV) industry. The aim is to train technicians suitably qualified to work on the latest hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
Due to the increase in EV’s on the roads and the current ULEZ expansion across London, it made sense for the college to invest in their own EV model for their workshop as part of the student’s practise. We completed a handover of an old 2015 Nissan LEAF in their new EV charging bays at the college. This will be used to enhance students knowledge of EVs and allow them to gain more experience.
After the handover was complete, we were lucky enough to have a look around the workshop to get an insight into the practical lessons.
We are looking forward to seeing how the project progresses over the following months.
