5 Minutes With Danny Molloy, General Sales Manager at Nissan Slough

Welcome back to our 5 Minutes With series, where we introduce the faces behind the scenes at Ancaster Group. This time, we sat down with Danny Molloy, General Sales Manager at Nissan Slough. With a mix of humour, passion, and dedication, Danny shares his journey in the automotive world, the challenges he’s faced, and some surprising tidbits about his life outside work.

Here’s what Danny had to say:

Name: Danny Molloy
Role: General Sales Manager
Dealership: Nissan Slough
Time at Ancaster: 1 Year, 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 1 Day, 7 Hours, and 32 Minutes (and counting!)

What inspired you to get into the motor industry?

“Honestly, I kind of fell into it. But the idea of having a car was definitely appealing.”

What was your first car? Any unforgettable stories?

“My first car was a Vauxhall Astra. As for stories… let’s just say, I was a young man. That’s all I’m saying!”

What’s the most exciting part of your job as a manager?

“Payday!” (Danny laughs before adding, “Seriously, it’s been a mission at Slough, so the best part is seeing things start to work. Watching the team’s hard work pay off is very rewarding.”)

How has the automotive industry changed since you started?

“The principles of sales haven’t really changed, but customers now have far more information before they even step into the dealership.”

What’s a common misconception about working in a car dealership?

“People think it’s easy—it’s not.”

What’s been your most memorable moment at Ancaster so far?

“Winning the Dealership Ambassador of the Quarter Award. It was fantastic to get recognition for all the hard work the team has put in.”

Do you have a personal favourite car in the showroom right now?

“The Nissan Ariya—hands down. And I’m lucky enough to take it home sometimes.”

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?

“I used to be a good pool player. I’ve played in two World Championships and even beaten three former world champions. Unfortunately, a nasty arm injury means I can’t play properly anymore.”

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in the automotive industry?

“Listen intently, and don’t say anything unless it will help.”

Danny’s passion for his team, his sharp wit, and his relentless drive make him a fantastic part of the Ancaster family. Keep an eye out for more 5 Minutes With features as we continue to introduce you to the amazing people who make Ancaster Group what it is today.
