In a truly remarkable effort, across the whole of the Ancaster Group, we have raised over £14,000 for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
In a mammoth task that required everyone that participated to reach a target of around 8,300 steps per day, over 90 of our colleagues accepted the challenge, and completed 23,435,434 in total over the four weeks.
Right from the start, the amount of effort and commitment was obvious, with a week one total of 409,105 steps, and the Eltham Wanderers team leading the charge.
Just some of the highlights over the challenge were seeing Vanessa, Nitesh and Richard complete Most Steps in a Day, by being both committed and creative in achieving some huge distances. The amazing Deadline Chasers achieved a total 1,716,560 million steps, and The Four Directions raised a remarkable £5,626.
Ancaster Group’s Carly Keeler said, “We always want to contribute to the great community that we have been part of for over 75 years. The tireless work of the Royal Marsden is very close to a lot of our customers’ and colleagues’ hearts. The million step challenge was a great way to get some internal competition going whilst raising money for a great charity. The teams really did pull out all the stops with those that are on their feet all day absolutely smashing their targets, whilst our office-based teams had to push ourselves to get there!
